A series where naturally occurring raw pigments-effectively extracts from geological strata, were collected by me and utilised/transposed to create painted matrices. This stems from an interest and continuing exploration of geology, fossils, and the palaeo-environments from which these pigments originate. Specifically, these are Late Triassic and Early Jurassic sediments; variously from lagunar, shallow sea, lake (lacustrine), and desert alluvial environments. They range in age from circa 205-180 million years ago! They are painted on Fabriano Unica 250gsm paper, and, being painted un-stretched means there is some mild surface waviness which is considered part and parcel. They can be framed 'floating' which makes a feature of surface variation and play with surface light, or can be window-mounted. These paintings are 350x500mm sheet size, except those indicated otherwise on individual captions.
